Best time to visit Agra:

October to March is the best time to visit Agra as the weather during this time remains pleasant and perfect to explore the tourist spots in the city. Let us take a look at various seasons throughout the year to help you plan your trip better.

  • Summer (April – July): Agra has scorching summers with temperature going up to 45 degrees. Hence, it is advised to avoid the summer season as the sightseeing becomes very uncomfortable and difficult.
  • Winter (October – March): This is the best time to visit Agra as the weather is pleasant throughout the day. 
  • Monsoon (July – September): The temperature during monsoons is not as bad as summers, and also there is noheavy rainfall which could spoil your travel plans. It might get a bit humid but not a bad time to explore the city.

How to reach Agra

  • By Air: Agra is connected to all major parts of the country through Agra Airport (AGR), which is a public airport as well as a military airbase. It is also referred to as Kheria Air Force station and is located 5 km away from the city centre. IndiGo connects Agra with Bengaluru along with seamless connectivity to other destinations through non-stop flights. 
  • By Train: Agra has four major railway stations with the most common ones being Agra Cantt. and Agra Fort. Shatabdi and Taj Express are the two fastest train, connecting the city with all other key locations.
  • By Road: Agra is strategically located on the Golden Triangle. The Taj expressway connects Agra with Delhi via Greater Noida. There are also regular buses connecting Delhi to Agra with most of the buses starting from Anand Vihar terminus, Delhi.

Getting around in Agra: The local transport in the city includes auto-rickshaws and state buses; however, you can also try battery-powered rickshaws, electric buses, tempos and electric buses.

  • Sadar Bazaar: If you are looking for budget shopping in Agra, then this is the place for you. It is famous for leather products and handicrafts shops. The market remains closed on Tuesday, so make sure you do not visit on this day.
  • Shoe Market: As the name suggests, it is famous for footwear. Located in Hing Ki Mandi, you can get quality footwear at reasonable prices here. This market is usually visited by wholesalers, which means you can get a good deal for your purchase.
