“Thank you to the IndiGo-Bandhan team for their support. I could stand on my feet and fund my husband’s medical treatment.”
Gita was living a painful life with her four children and bedridden husband, whose treatment she could hardly afford. When our team approached her, she was working as a house-help and struggling to make ends meet.
As a part of the Bandhan-IndiGo THP (The Hardcore Poor) program, training and required assets were extended to Gita, enabling her to set up a grocery store. She was also given a monthly stipend until her income could meet her household expenses.
Gita was determined to change her fate and worked hard to learn the required skills in order to run her business. She now generates a decent income at her store and also manages to save some money.
This not only empowered her to support her family but to also pay for her husband’s treatment. Gita also got herself insured under the PMSBY scheme and her children attend school regularly. She looks forward to living a happy life with her husband and children.
