According to Hindu mythology, Lord Brahma (the god of creation) chose a land on earth where three rivers will meet and named it as King of all pilgrimage centres or ‘Tirth Raj’. And that place is Allahabad located at the confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Formerly known as Prayag (place of offerings), emperor Akbar named it as ‘Ilahabas’ (‘Garden of Allah’). It is the second oldest city in India and has been the center for several important events in the past and present as well. Interesting to know that the city of Allahabad houses Nehru family's ancestral home Anand Bhawan that served as a headquarter during India’s freedom struggle. The city is also one of the venues to host the famous Kumbh Mela. Moreover, some of the eminent personalities and national leaders like Amitabh Bachchan, Jawaharlal Nehru and Dhyan Chand belong to this city of holy voyages.
