Gateway to Greece

Powered by India's first Airbus A321XLR, IndiGo commenced direct flights to Athens, each from Mumbai and Delhi, on 23 and 24 January 2026 respectively.

With this, IndiGo forays into long-range, narrow-body operations and also becomes the only Indian carrier to offer direct flights between India and Greece. This comes at a time when the India-Europe aviation market is growing, driven by both business and leisure demand. Greece, with its growing role as a tourism and trade hub, offers a strong complement to India's expanding outbound market.

As of August 2025

IndiGo's domestic market share stood at 64.2%, and topped the on-time performance charts with 90.6% OTP, according to DGCA data.

Stronger Together

In early December 2025, IndiGo faced multiple unforeseen operational challenges including minor technology glitches, schedule changes linked to the winter season, adverse weather conditions, increased congestion in the aviation system and the implementation of updated crew rostering rules (Flight Duty Time Limitations), cumulatively causing severe disruption in early December 2025, in a way that was not feasible to be anticipated. The airline sincerely apologized to all customers impacted by these events and for the inconvenience caused. The airline recalibrated and temporarily scaled down its schedule in a measured manner, enabling a steady and responsible stabilisation of operations. In just a few days' time, IndiGo operations demonstrated consistent improvement - all 138 destinations connected, on-time performance returned to IndiGo standards, and capacity progressively rebuilt to over 2,200 daily flights.

Through all this, customer care remained central to all decisions. IndiGo diligently engaged with customers to address their concerns and queries. Apart from the compensation mandated under the existing Government of India guidelines, IndiGo has also announced additional, voluntary compensation for severely impacted passengers in the form of travel vouchers. With operations fully restored, IndiGo has engaged an independent external aviation expert for a comprehensive Root Cause Analysis. IndiGo is steadfastly committed to serving its valued customers and is grateful for the continued confidence placed in it by customers and stakeholders.

A Journey Through India's Buddhist Circuit

Left Side Image

Buddhist Circuit Tourism is a captivating travel experience that traces the historic routes connected to the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. Starting from Lumbini in Nepal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Buddha was born, the journey unfolds across the landscapes of India, linking some of Asia's most significant cultural and historical destinations.

The spiritual trail leads to destinations like Bodh Gaya, where Buddha attained enlightenment and Sarnath, where his first sermon was delivered. Along the way, travellers come across centuries-old monuments, sacred architecture, and living traditions that reveal how Buddhism shaped art, culture, and civilisation across regions.

Beyond pilgrimage, the Buddhist Circuit is a journey through time, inviting one to walk ancient paths and explore heritage sites that echo the stories carried across generations. Here are some of the most important Buddhist travel destinations in India to begin your journey along the footsteps of the Buddha.

Bodh Gaya, Bihar

If you are embarking on a Buddhist pilgrimage in India, make Bodh Gaya your first stop. Known as the holiest of holy places for Buddhists, this is where Buddha attained enlightenment under the hallowed Bodhi Tree. The Bodhi Tree is the most important attraction in the temple complex, with other must-visit spots including Animesh Lochan Chaitya, Sujata Garh, The Seven Weeks (Saptasthana) Sites, and the Mahabodhi Temple complex, uncovering the spiritual, architectural, and cultural layers of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
The best time to visit Bodh Gaya is between October and March, with the nearest airport in Gaya.

Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh

Sarnath near Varanasi is another important Buddhist site where the Buddha gave his first sermon, five weeks after his enlightenment. Among the interesting sites in Sarnath is the Deer Park, the Chaukhandi Stupa, the spot where Buddha first met his five disciples, and the Mulgandhakuti Vihara, where the Buddha meditated whenever he visited Sarnath, during the monsoons. The Sound and Light Show depicting his life is also not to be missed when in Sarnath.
It is approximately 25 km away from Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport in Varanasi, another holy city that has a lot to offer with its myriad temples and food options.

Sanchi, Madhya Pradesh

Best known for its spectacular stupa and as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sanchi in Madhya Pradesh is the perfect example of early Buddhist architecture. Here, travellers can witness the four magnificent Toranas (Gateways) of the stupa that are intricately carved with stories of the Buddha's life, through a series of symbols: the lotus representing his birth, the tree, his enlightenment, the wheel, his sermon, and the stupa, his nirvana.
Sanchi is around 50 km away from Raja Bhog Airport in Bhopal.

Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh

Kushinagar is the sacred place where Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana, his final passing and salvation from the cycle of rebirth. When at Kushinagar, visit the most important monument, the Mahaparinirvana Temple, which has a stunning, 6-metre-long image of the Buddha, in a reclining posture. Also visit the Ramabhar Stupa, where Buddha was cremated.
The pilgrimage site is about 50 km away from Gorakhpur airport.

These Buddhist pilgrimage sites are well connected by road and train. IndiGo operates regular flights connecting Gaya, Varanasi, Bhopal, and Gorakhpur with Delhi and/or Kolkata, along with seamless connections to other key destinations in India.

HG Aviation, IndiGo's GSA partner in Vietnam

Message from Ngo Minh Duc, Chairman, HG Aviation.

About HG Aviation

Established in 2004, HG Aviation is a leading aviation and travel service provider in Vietnam. For over two decades, we have served as a General Sales Agent (GSA) for world-class airlines, including IndiGo. With extensive experience and professionalism, HG Aviation has solidified its role as a "strategic bridge," helping international airlines penetrate the market, build brand equity, and execute efficient business operations in Vietnam. We focus deeply on developing B2B channels, optimizing distribution, and standardizing agent support to maximize commercial reach for our partners. Moving beyond the traditional role of a ticket distributor, HG Aviation proudly positions itself as a dedicated "Connecting Ambassador" between Vietnam and India.

Q1. Can you share some recent milestones or achievements of 2025?

In 2025, HG Aviation achieved strategic milestones as the GSA for IndiGo, positioning the carrier as a premier choice for travelers between Vietnam and India. In May 2025, we hosted our annual event to express gratitude to our partners and announce new strategic directions for IndiGo. We successfully positioned IndiGo as the No. 1 airline for Buddhist pilgrimage routes from Vietnam to India's sacred sites via strategic hubs like Kolkata and New Delhi. At this event, we reaffirmed the strength of our B2B network, serving over 1,000 travel agents and making IndiGo the preferred choice for spiritual and pilgrimage tourism.

Team HG Aviation

A landmark achievement in late 2025 was the inauguration of the direct Hanoi - New Delhi route on December 20, with a frequency of 7 flights per week. This increased IndiGo's total frequency between the two countries to over 30 flights per week. This direct connection between the two capitals has significantly reduced travel time to just 4 hours. Alongside passenger services, HG Aviation has also played a pivotal role in cargo development, optimizing belly-hold capacity and fueling the commercial trade flow between Vietnam and India.

Q2. What strategies have helped you strengthen IndiGo's presence in Vietnam?

Recognizing the immense potential rooted in the strong foundation of Vietnam-India relations, HG Aviation is proud to have been the strategic partner accompanying IndiGo in the Vietnam market since its very first days. Official diplomatic ties between Vietnam and India were established in 1972 and have since been elevated to the highest level—a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Nevertheless, bilateral trade and tourism still hold vast untapped potential; by 2025, although trade turnover exceeded the $15 billion threshold, it remains modest relative to India's market of 1.4 billion people and the dynamism of the Vietnamese economy.

On this foundation, HG Aviation has identified a core strategy of expanding connectivity and reducing travel barriers. We leverage IndiGo's direct flights and extensive domestic network to increase destination options while partnering with them in market communications and customer experience enhancement. With the digital transformation of visa procedures and the increasing density of flight connections, two-way tourism is flourishing.

Seizing this opportunity, in 2019, IndiGo made history by becoming the first Indian airline to launch direct flights connecting the two nations. At HG Aviation, we believe our role transcends mere transportation logistics; it is a mission to build and position the IndiGo brand sustainably in the hearts and minds of customers.

Operationally, HG Aviation focuses on:

  • B2B Channel Development: Training and activating sales across our vast network.
  • Hub Optimization: Streamlining connections through strategic hubs like Kolkata and New Delhi.
  • Standardized Support: Providing professional after-sales and operational support to ensure a sustainable brand presence.

Q3. Which are the top 'India by IndiGo' destinations for your market?

Beyond traditional direct routes, HG Aviation is actively connecting Vietnamese passengers to IndiGo's vast global network. We are opening paths not only to economic centers like Mumbai and Bengaluru but also to promising international destinations such as Baku (Azerbaijan), Tbilisi (Georgia), and the Middle East. This "Beyond India" initiative is a high-potential direction for 2026, diversifying products for both leisure and business travelers.

Currently, several Indian destinations have become household names for Vietnamese travelers thanks to IndiGo:

  • New Delhi: The "Heart" and primary gateway.
  • Bodh Gaya: The capital of Buddhist pilgrimage.
  • Varanasi: The sacred city on the banks of the Ganges.
  • Kolkata: A strategic transit point and cultural hub.
  • Mumbai: The center of finance and entertainment.

By optimizing IndiGo's flight network, HG Aviation remains a steadfast "extended arm", helping to realize the untapped potential of Vietnam-India relations. We ensure that every flight is more than just geographical movement—it is a bridge that tightens friendships and connects opportunities for a new era of development.
