Places to visit in Deoghar

  • Baba Baidyanath Temple: Also known as Baba Dham, Baba Baidyanath is a famous temple in the city and also one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the sacred abodes of Shiva. The Aarti enlightens you and is something one should not miss.
  • Trikut Pahar: Tourists can enjoy a lovely view as this place is ideal for trekking, picnics, ropeway and wildlife adventures. It is surrounded by three peaks, out of which two are accessible for trekking, while the third one is not inaccessible due to steep slopes. It has a deep historical significance dating back to the epic legend, The Ramayana. The three hills of Trikut are named after the Hindu Gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva.
  • Nandan Pahar: A small hill located in Deoghar, Nandan Pahar, consists of various temples with idols of Shiva, Parvati, Ganesh, and Kartik. The hill is 3 km away from Baba Baidyanath Dham Station. An amusement park located on this hill can be visited with your loved ones to enjoy rides, boating, and toy trains.
  • Naulakha Temple: This historical spot has idols of Radha and Krishna and is situated 1.5km away from Baba Baidyanath Temple. It is known that Rani Charushila, who belonged to the family of the Pathuria Ghat King, had donated an amount of ₹9 lakhs for the construction of the temple.
  • Satsang Ashram: One of the holy places in Deoghar, the ashram was established by Anukul Chandra, one of the spiritual leaders in the country, and was built for his devotees.
  • Tapovan: Another hill located 10 km from Deoghar, its name originates from a forest of meditation. The architecture is amazing, as you can see the portrait of Lord Hanuman on a cracked rock.
  • Rikhiapeeth: The famous ashram, established by Swami Satyananda Saraswati, is a home to enlightened sages and is located 12 km away from the Baba Dham temple. Due to their presence, you can feel peace and serenity all around. The best time to visit Rikhiapeeth is November and December as the grand fair takes place on an annual basis.

  • Shravani Mela: This Mela holds significance especially when it is related to Baba Dham. The devotees visit Sultanganj, where the Ganges flows and they collect water in their kawars to carry it on their shoulders. It is estimated around 50 to 55 lakh pilgrims visit this holy place as the mela continues for 30 days from the months July to August. Besides the month of Shrawan, people visit this area during Shivratri, Basant Pachmi and Bhadra Purnima.
  • Vishwakarma Puja: It is one of the important festivals celebrated in Deoghar due to the presence of mining activities and industries.
  • Diwali: Also known as the festival of lights, Diwali is celebrated in the cultural capital of Jharkhand and across the nation.
