Nashik, our 77th domestic destination, is widely known as the wine capital of India, but this city is also famous for being one of the four pilgrimage sites where the renowned Kumbh Mela is held. Picturesque Nashik is tucked away amidst the Sahayadari mountains and is well known for its agriculture and wineries. It is also home to some of the top vineyards in the country, with one of the prominent ones being Sula Vineyards which attracts tourists and wine afficionados every year. How to Reach?

By Air: Nashik Airport (ISK) is a major domestic airport. The airport is about 20 kilometres away and takes about 30 minutes to drive. From the airport, you can get taxis and buses that will drop you off in the city centre. So, to book flights to Nashik, visit goIndiGo.in

By Train: Nashik has a railway station called Nashik Road Railway Station. Several railways from across India serve the city. From the railroad, you can find several buses and taxis to drop you off at your hotel.

By Road: Nashik is conveniently connected to major cities by roadways. Since Mumbai is the closest city, NH 3 stretches from Mumbai to Nashik. Several private buses as well as Maharashtra State Transport Corporation buses travel to and from Nashik.

Getting Around

Places to visit in Nashik

  • Sula Vineyards: Sula Vineyards is the valley's first commercial vineyard, sprawling across an area of around 160 acres. The grapes used to make the wine at Sula Winery are cultivated in the neighbourhoods of Nashik and Dindori. This vineyard includes a tasting area where visitors can try samples of the house wines. It also features a resort where wine enthusiasts can stay for a day or two and take in the scenery.
  • Pandavleni Caves: This group of twenty-four finely carved caverns, which date to the second century BC, reveals the Buddhist Hinayana architecture. From the third century BC to the second century AD, the Pandavleni caverns were carved. With the exception of the eighth cave, which is from the Chaitya, the caves all display vihara-style construction.
  • Anjaneri Mountains: The Hindu epic Ramayana is linked to the Anjaneri Mountains. It is thought that Lord Hanuman was born on this peak. On the mountaintop, there is a revered temple that is frequently visited by followers. The mountain bears the name Anjani, the mother of Lord Hanuman. A short trek is required to get to the mountaintop, and the view from the top is stunning.
  • Coin Museum: Coins from many different eras have been gathered and are on display in a comprehensive collection. The Coin Museum, the only institution of its sort in Asia, promotes understanding of Indian numismatics. The museum, which was built in 1980, exhibits the coins and provides a small description on the sides so that the general public can learn more about them.
  • Ramkund: Many pilgrims flock to the pond to take a dip in the sacred water of Ramkund because of the water's high significance. Because Lord Rama took baths there while he was in exile, the holy waters of Ramkund are revered. In addition to the religious belief, this pond is the location of the river Godavari's dramatic 90-degree turn.
