Located in the northeastern part of Madhya Pradesh, Rewa is a historical city known for its royal past, natural beauty, and white tigers. Previously the capital of a princely state bearing its name, Rewa is home to colonial buildings, temples, and waterfalls. With a quiet atmosphere and rich history, Rewa appeals to history and nature enthusiasts alike. Besides visiting Rewa, you can also explore other places within the state. Several airports in Madhya Pradesh enable enthusiastic travellers to quickly book a flight and start exploring this Indian state.

    How to reach Rewa?

    • By air: The nearest airport to Rewa is Rewa Airport (REW), located around 8 km from the city. The airport is developed, but regular commercial flights have yet to begin, so direct connectivity to major cities like Delhi is not available at the moment. For travellers planning to fly, the nearest operational airports are Prayagraj Airport (IXD), about 130 km from Rewa, and Khajuraho Airport (HJR), roughly 125 km away.
    • By train: Railway travel will be convenient to Rewa as the Rewa Railway Station (REWA) is connected to major cities throughout India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi. The station is also where the Satna-Katni line connects, with daily service for both intra-state and long-distance travel.
    • By road: Rewa is also conveniently linked by road through National Highway 30 and National Highway 135. State-owned buses operated by the Madhya Pradesh Road Transport Corporation, as well as privately operated buses, connect Rewa with neighbouring cities such as Satna, Allahabad, Jabalpur, and Varanasi.
    • Getting around Rewa / Local transport: Rewa has local buses, auto rickshaws, and cycle rickshaws available for travel within city limits. App-based cab services are available but limited.

    • Birthplace of the white tiger lineage: Rewa is renowned in wildlife history for the discovery of the first white tiger, Mohan, in 1951. The royal family of Rewa was instrumental in maintaining this rare genetic mutation, and currently, most white tigers in captivity across the world have a lineage that traces back to Mohan.

    • Affordable and less commercialised destination: Rewa does not have the touristy feel like other, more popular cities, and retains its real character without too much commercialisation. Travellers will definitely feel the hospitality of local inhabitants and locals when visiting some of these attractions and cultural experiences, without the throngs of tourists.
    • Proximity to multiple waterfalls: Few places can boast of having the abundance of beautiful waterfalls so close together. The waterfalls around Rewa offer great opportunities for photographers, nature lovers, and adventure enthusiasts.
