By Air: The Tirupati airport lays 15km from the center of the city. Being one of the holy destinations in the country, Tirupati is connected with all the Major metros of the country, with carriers like IndiGo operating daily flights from Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
By Train: The Tirupati railway station is linked to other cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Madurai with trains frequenting on a daily basis. Another railway station – Reningunta, which lies on the Trivandrum-Tirupati route offers a different source for tourists to visit the place from various parts of the country.
By Bus: Reaching Tirupati via road is also easy as two state transportation agencies; APSRTC & KSRTC connect the city to every region of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Getting around: The cheapest means of transportation (and covering almost the entire city), is the state-run bus service. If you are visiting the temple city specifically, we suggest hiring/renting a cab as it is super convenient. Most of the landmark temples are located very close to each other and hence walking is a preferred option to taking a cab or bus.

If you are in the city for a day, we suggest you do a temple run. Start early morning (around 5:30am) with a visit to the Tirumala temple. Buy a VIP pass for INR 300 and wait in the queue. The overall time taken for the visit can be anywhere between 4-6 hours during off season. Once you are through with your visit to the temple, head to the Narayanagiri hill for a complete view of the city. Srivari Padalu, where Lord Venkateswara is believed to have set foot on Earth for the first time, rests atop the hill. Another stop and perhaps the last of the day should be the Iskcon temple. Head here during the evening prayer and you’ll find yourself mesmerised by the joyous chants and songs.

Find yourself immersed in the beauty of the garland of rocks (Silathoranam), a natural rock bridge or simply head to the 460-acre TTD garden, which has over 2,000 varieties of flowers. Marvel at the structural magnificence of the Kalyani dam, which is at the center of Bakarapeta forest, or simply soak in the architectural beauty of Venkateshwara temple; Tirupati is a unique destination which never fails to surprise tourists.
