At the foot of the Seshachalam hills, we find one of the most culturally-inclined regions of the country—Tirupati. Located in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, Tirupati is mainly known for its beautiful, architectural monuments like the Venkateshwara Temple resting atop the 7 peaks of the Tirumala hills, picturesque destinations like The Rock Garden and the many waterfalls like Akasa Ganga. Most importantly, Tirupati is a pilgrim destination which sees millions of tourists every year, visiting the Balaji temple. This makes it the spiritual capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit the city is between October and February, as the temperature averages at a cool 15 degree Celsius. Monsoons arrive in the region between July and September and the city receives heavy rainfall.  Overall, the city’s climate oscillates between 15 and 40 degree Celsius.

How to reach

By Air: The Tirupati airport lays 15km from the center of the city. Being one of the holy destinations in the country, Tirupati is connected with all the Major metros of the country, with carriers like IndiGo operating daily flights from Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

By Train: The Tirupati railway station is linked to other cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Madurai with trains frequenting on a daily basis. Another railway station – Reningunta, which lies on the Trivandrum-Tirupati route offers a different source for tourists to visit the place from various parts of the country.

By Bus: Reaching Tirupati via road is also easy as two state transportation agencies; APSRTC & KSRTC connect the city to every region of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Getting around: The cheapest means of transportation (and covering almost the entire city), is the state-run bus service. If you are visiting the temple city specifically, we suggest hiring/renting a cab as it is super convenient. Most of the landmark temples are located very close to each other and hence walking is a preferred option to taking a cab or bus.
