Best time to visit: While it's a year-round destination, the preferable time to visit is from May to July.

Visa and immigration: If you're an Indian passport holder travelling to Kuala Lumpur, then you would be required to apply for a Malaysian visa either online or with the help of an expert. There are two types of Malaysian visa – an eNTRI visa that is ideal for 15 days visit as a tourist or 30 days eVISA that allows you 30 days of entry. The eNTRI visa gets approved within 2 hours whereas eVISA takes up to 8 working days.

How to reach

By Air: The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is located in Sepand at a distance of approximately 50km from the city. IndiGo now provides direct connectivity between Kuala Lumpur and Delhi & Bengaluru along with seamless connections to other cities in India.

Getting around: Kuala Lumpur has a vast network of buses, taxis and commuter trains connecting various parts of the city as well as the suburbs. You can also use Kuala Lumpur's metro system that includes monorail and rapid transit trains.

Changkat Bukit Bintang

This road is known for having the most popular Kuala Lumpur’s restaurants and bars. It is an ideal place for pub crawling and offers endless options for dining. It is quite busy on public holidays and weekends, so plan your visit accordingly. You can visit during the daytime as well to see the buildings that date back to the colonial era that are refurbished into high-class restaurants and pubs.

Jalan Alor

From 5 p.m. till the early morning, this place transforms itself into a hub for roadside restaurants. The street gets full of rival caterers and hawker stalls shouting out to the visitors to fuel their business. You can try almost all kinds of Malay, Thai and Chinese dishes starting from Frog legs, Congee to Grilled Fish and Satay to Kai-lan in oyster sauce. So, make sure you spend one of your late evenings at Jalan Alor.

Marini’s on 57

A fine-dining Italian restaurant on the 57th floor offering a spectacular view of the Petronas Twin Towers through its floor-to-ceiling windows and glass roof is what makes Marini's on 57, unique. The menu comprises delicious dishes Italian dishes like spaghetti with almonds and botargo.

Thirty8 KL

Hailed as city’s one of the best restaurants, Thirty8 KL is an elegant dining space with a wine bar and lounge on the 38th floor of Grand Hyatt Hotel. Its menu offers a diverse range of Thai and Chinese seafood along with Japanese sashimi and sushi and steaks.

Nobu KL

Shopping in Kuala Lumpur

You will find a variety of traditional Malaysian goods to bring back home for your loved ones. Most of the souvenirs are in the form of ornamental decorative items for your home. Such as beautifully crafted pen-holders, keychains, jewellery, figures of silver, brass, wooden statues with intricate designs and pottery. Traditional fabrics like ‘Batik,’ a fancy colourful silk cloth having floral patterns and Malay garments, ‘Kain Songket’ with a different Malay brocade made of silk with silver and gold threads are hugely popular among the tourists. You can also pick some cool Malaysian t-shirts with cool captions, miniature replicas of twin towers or lighters in different designs as souvenirs.

Bukit Bintang: As similar to Fifth Avenue in New York, the place is the shopping and entertainment hub of the city. It is quite popular among the locals especially the youth and tourists. Starting from shopping in some of the city's famous malls like Pavilion KL, Berjaya Times Square, Low Yat Plaza, Imbi Plaza, Fahrenheit 88, etc. along with satisfying your gastronomical senses with delicious food, this place has it all, making it a must visit for all tourists.

Petaling street: This is the ideal place to buy some branded replicas of handbags, watches, clothing, etc. in a pocket-friendly price that can be further reduced by bargaining. This lively place is also home to an array of local cuisines that are hard to resist.

Central Market: At a short distance from Petaling street, you will find another famous shopping landmark, Central Market. Earlier it was a simple market but later got revamped into a handicrafts centre to focus on the artistic community. You can buy some authentic Malaysian batik print scarfs, wooden handicrafts, sculptures along with some local merchandise from ample souvenirs, crafts and boutique shops.

Suria KLCC: A premier shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, Suria KLCC boasts of about 400 exclusive brands and departmental stores spread over six floors. Located beneath the famous Petronas Twin Towers, the mall caters to tourists as well as middle and upper-class Malaysians. The mall also features an orchestra hall, a convention centre, an art gallery, an aquarium and a gorgeous park.



Stratosphere @ The Roof: You can’t miss partying at Asia’s first and only lavish bar set on the top of a grass-covered helipad. Its location makes it different from the other rooftop bars in Kuala Lumpur.  You can spend your evening with an array of drinks and dance out to some lively music played by their resident DJs.

No Black Tie: Touted as the leading Jazz club and bar in Kuala Lumpur, this place is a haven for live bands where some of the renowned musicians of the regions have performed. Don’t forget to try their black sesame ice-cream and yummy fried food.

Zouk: It’s a unique combination of a nightclub, restaurant, live music and bar. The place is famous for its changing line-up of international DJs. On Wednesday nights, the club holds themed parties like Mambo Jambo, retros, etc.
