Italy ignites a burst of interest among travellers for many reasons, no matter whether you want to explore the city-state of Vatican City, the stunning Amalfi Coast, or Venice, the city of canals. But one city that you must visit in Italy is Rome. One step outside your hotel in Rome will direct you to so many attractions. From some of the most inspiring cathedrals, to the Colosseum and the Pantheon, Rome may overwhelm you at first due to its sheer size, but once you get used to it, the city will fall at your feet.

    How to Reach?

    • By Air: Leonardo da Vinci International Airport is the main airport, which is about 30 km from the city. Rome has a second airport at Ciampino, which receives domestic, and a few international flights. It is about 15 km from the city. You can easily get a bus from both of these airports; the bus service in Rome is cheaper and more conveniently accessible. The Leonardo Express train will take you from the airport to the city.
    • Now fly to various European destinations with regular IndiGo flights to Rome from cities across India. In partnership with Turkish Airlines, IndiGo provides seamless and hassle-free connectivity to multiple international destinations for you to explore.
    • By Train: Roma Tiburtina and Roma Termini are the two main railway stations in Rome. There are a number of trains that travel outside of Italy to parts of Europe. It is best to make train reservations beforehand. Travellers can also buy the Eurail Pass, which is an all-in-one train ticket. It gives travellers access to most trains in Europe's major cities and towns.
    • By Road: Tiburtina bus station is a primary bus terminal that connects to different towns and cities across the country. It is located adjacent to the Roma Tiburtina railway station. To get here, you can find several modes of transportation, like local buses, metro, and taxis. Rome also has car rentals, which allows tourists to explore the city at their own pace.
    • Getting Around: Using Rome’s tram system is a great idea since all major stops are at important sites like the Colosseum and the Vatican. You can use the tram service with your bus or metro ticket without paying extra. The metro system around Rome is easy to navigate, and with the help of the Roma Pass, it gives travellers unlimited access to the public transportation system. Instead of standing in line to buy your metro tickets, you can use the MyCicero app to save time. Rome’s bus network is also reliable and convenient, as it connects every part of the city.
