IndiGo, India's newest low-fare domestic carrier, promoted by InterGlobe Enterprises and Mr Rakesh Gangwal, today took delivery of its second brand new Airbus A320 aircraft from Airbus in Toulouse, France. Speaking to media persons shortly after taking delivery of the aircraft,Mr. Bruce Ashby, President and CEO,IndiGo said, At IndiGo, we are steadily building our route network. Within a short span of a month we have taken delivery of our second plane. With our second aircraft we will connect the Delhi- Kolkata, Kolkata- Guwahati sectors from August 30, 2006 and commence non-stop service on the Delhi- Bangalore sector. IndiGo is designed to offer a high quality, reliable, hassle-free product that is always affordable and opens up travel opportunities for its customers. IndiGo will have 6 airplanes by the end of 2006 and an additional 9 next year, taking the fleet size to 15 by the end of 2007. IndiGo will serve Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Guwahati, Imphal, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Lucknow, Nagpur and Pune with its first four aircraft. IndiGo proposes to serve approximately 30 Indian cities by 2010, with a fleet of approximately 40 A320s.
