IndiGo, India's newest low-fare domestic carrier today took delivery of its fourth brand new Airbus A320 aircraft from Airbus Industry in Toulouse, France. IndiGo will operate this aircraft to commence daily services from Mumbai to Vadodara with a same flight-continuation to Delhi and back, and from Mumbai to Nagpur with a same-flight-continuation to Kolkata and back, from October 18, 2006. Speaking to media persons shortly after taking delivery of the aircraft,Mr. Bruce Ashby, President and CEO, IndiGo,said, Within a span of three months of launching IndiGos revenue operations, we have taken delivery of our fourth Airbus A320 aircraft. We will use this aircraft to introduce new services to Mumbai, Nagpur and Vadodara, enhancing the route network for our passengers. IndiGos fourth aircraft comes brand new from the Airbus factory, in the same configuration as its first three aircrafts. Using one type of aircraft is consistent with IndiGos focus on doing one thing and doing it well. This ensures that IndiGo stays affordable, always. IndiGo has chosen a spacious layout for its A320-200 with specially designed passenger seats that provide additional legroom and large overhead bins, allowing for maximum passenger comfort. The aircraft has a single-class seating configuration of 180 customers.
IndiGo, India's newest low-fare domestic carrier will enhance its route network in South India. IndiGo currently gives its passengers the choice of twice-daily flights on the Delhi- Bangalore sector, with one non-stop flight and one same-aircraft service with a stopover in Pune. Starting September 30, 2006, IndiGo also began twice-daily services from Delhi to Hyderabad with a same-aircraft continuation to Chennai and back. IndiGo is flying those routes. Speaking at a press meet,Mr. Bruce Ashby, President and CEO, IndiGo,said, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad are emerging business centers and important cities for IndiGo and our customers. The Southern part of India is also an attractive tourist destination.
