IndiGo Celebrates 19 Years of Going Places With further Leaps in its Internationalisation Journey
- Announces daily, direct flights to London Heathrow from 26 October 2025
- Introduces IndiGoStretch on more short-haul international routes

National- August 4, 2025 – Marking the completion of 19 years of its operations, IndiGo, India's preferred airline, today announced several strategic developments in its journey to become a global airline. IndiGo will be receiving five additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in the current financial year under its damp-lease arrangement with Norse Atlantic Airways, which will enable the airline to launch new international routes while strengthening its existing long-haul network.
Daily, direct flights from India to London Heathrow
IndiGo, today, announced direct daily flights to London Heathrow starting 26 October 2025, subject to regulatory approvals. The airline will operate a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on this route. These flights will be available for booking soon.
IndiGoStretch now on Dubai and Singapore routes
IndiGo has also upgraded the product on select international routes. Starting 09 August 2025, IndiGo will start offering its tailor-made business product, IndiGoStretch on flights connecting Singapore to Delhi and Mumbai, as it will operate its two-class A321 aircraft on the routes. Similarly, the airline will introduce IndiGoStretch on flights between Delhi and Dubai from 30 August 2025, and flights between Mumbai and Dubai starting 03 September 2025.
Recognition as the ‘Best Airline in India and South Asia’ by Skytrax
Underscoring its leadership in the subcontinent, IndiGo was recently recognized as the ‘Best Airline in India and South Asia’, besides being named the ‘Cleanest Airline in India & South Asia’ by Skytrax at the World Airline Awards 2025. For several years, IndiGo was recognized as the Best LCC in India, the recognition now of being the Best Airline in India and South Asia is an endorsement of its evolution by travellers across the world who voted for the airline.

Within a period of just 19 years, IndiGo has established itself as India’s largest and most preferred airline, operating a fleet of 400+ aircraft to service a robust network covering more than 90 domestic and over 40 international destinations, literally giving wings to the nation.
IndiGo unfolded a new chapter in its growth journey by launching long-haul international operations, with direct flights connecting Mumbai with Manchester and Amsterdam. IndiGo also, recently, signed an MOU with Delta Air Lines, Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic to build an industry-leading partnership connecting India with Europe and North America. IndiGo also enhanced its partnerships with KLM and Japan Airlines, making it reciprocal and extending the benefits of seamless travel across their respective networks to IndiGo customers. The airline further strengthened its network by entering into a codeshare agreement with Jetstar, offering one-stop connectivity to 14 destinations across Australia and New Zealand.
Aligned with its growth strategy and long-term internationalization plans, IndiGo announced converting 30 aircraft of its purchase rights for 70 Airbus A350 aircraft, into a firm order, thereby taking its total wide-body aircraft order to 60. The airline also announced its plans to start operations to Copenhagen, Athens, Siem Reap besides adding four more Central Asian destinations within FY26.
Within India, IndiGo added two new airports to its network – Adampur (Jalandhar, Punjab) and Hindon (Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh), besides announcing commencement of commercial flight operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport with over 18 daily departures to over 15 cities as soon as the airport launches. Additionally, IndiGo also signed an MOU with Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) for development of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) infrastructure to support the airline’s expanding fleet.
With an average aircraft age of just 4.9 years, IndiGo has been named the "World's Youngest Aircraft Fleet" in the 100+ aircraft category by ch-aviation. Furthermore, IndiGo has been consistently maintaining its on- time performance, topping DGCA reports month after month.
