Fees and Charges

IndiGo offers various set of services (unbundled service as per Air Transport Circular 01 of 2024 issued by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), as amended from time to time. Such services are (a) are optional in nature & are provided for the convenience of our Customer/passengers and (b) these services can be availed by payment of additional charges.  It is clarified that Booking of the ticket can be made without opting /availing these unbundled services.

a) Check-in Baggage Allowance: 15 kg per person/Customer (1 piece only). However, in case Customer opts for Double or Triple or Multi Seats services, such Customer will get additional baggage allowance of 10 kg, which lets them carry two pieces of checked baggage. Additional charges may apply for excess baggage.
b) Additional Piece(s)- Checked-in Baggage: IndiGo will levy the following charges for checked-in Baggage exceeding 1 (one) piece, as follows:

Terms and Conditions for purchasing prepaid excess baggage for International Connecting Flights:

  1. Excess baggage should to be booked at least 6 hours before the scheduled departure.
  2. The domestic flight should be within 48 hours of your international flight or 48 hours after completion of institutional quarantine.

Customers/Passengers should produce relevant international travel documents or institutional quarantine release certificate, respectively, at the time of check-in failing which IndiGo will charge excess baggage as per applicable airport rates.

Check-in Baggage:

  1. Allowance of 20 kg/ 25 kg/ 30 kg is applicable per person (2 piece only, not exceeding more than 32 Kgs per baggage), basis the sector. For Double or Triple seat bookings, extra 10 kg baggage allowance. Additional charges may apply for excess baggage.

Hand Baggage: One up to 7 kg and 115 cm (L+W+H), shall be allowed per customer. For contactless travel, we recommend placing it under the seat in front of you on board.

Additional Piece(s): Travel with us seamless even while you have excess baggage. Checked-In Baggage

i. Allowance of check-in baggage will be displayed at the time of making the booking.

ii. Checked-in Baggage allowance for 6E*/TK (IN-US) flights: (6E marketed)
  • IndiGo allows free Checked-in Baggage up to 2 (two) pieces each weighing not more than 23kgs per person/Customer for its Economy Class flights operating to US markets (i.e., New York City, Boston, Chicago, Washington) under Codeshare arrangement. In case, such single (1) piece weighs above 23 kg per person/Customer, IndiGo will levy Excess Baggage charges as set out under point no. (iii) below. 
  • In case, a Customer/passenger wish to travel with more than 2 (two) piece of Checked-in Baggage, IndiGo will levy an “Additional Piece” charges as set out in the table in point no. (iii) below.

iii. Excess baggage charges for passengers travelling on 6E Marketed and TK Operated (IN-US) flights:  IndiGo will levy a per piece excess baggage charge for each Additional Piece of Checked-in Baggage as mentioned in table below:

Terms and Conditions for purchasing prepaid excess baggage for International Connecting Flights:

  1. Excess baggage should to be booked at least 6 hours before the scheduled departure.
  2. The domestic flight should be within 48 hours of your international flight or 48 hours after completion of institutional quarantine.

Customers/Passengers should produce relevant international travel documents or institutional quarantine release certificate, respectively, at the time of check-in failing which IndiGo will charge excess baggage as per applicable airport rates.

Terms & Conditions

IndiGoStretch & Stretch+ (International)

Terms & Conditions:

  1. Eligibility: The Stretch & Stretch+ fare shall be available for all passengers.
  2. Booking Channel: The Stretch & Stretch+ fare is available and may be purchased from IndiGo’s website at www.goindigo.in , mobile app, IndiGo call center, IndiGo’s airport reservation counters, Travel agents and Online travel partners.
  3. Applicability and Exclusions: Stretch and Stretch+ fares are currently available on limited and selected, one-way, round-trip and multi-city bookings for domestic and international sectors. Currently, Stretch and Stretch+ are not available on Codeshare flights and/or group bookings.
  4. Meal: All passengers seated in Stretch & Stretch+ fare will be provided with a complimentary standard veg meal box along with a complimentary beverage including wine or beer. In addition to that, passengers can purchase any food and beverages, of their choice offered by IndiGo, which is available online and onboard (which will be charged as per the prevailing rates).
  5. Pre-paid excess Baggage: Passengers carrying excess Baggage over and above the free check-in Baggage allowance, can pre-book book excess Baggage up to two (2) hour prior to the scheduled departure time of their International flight or will be charged at the airport if they arrive with additional excess baggage, click here for the rates.
  6. Additional pieces of Baggage: Additional pieces of Baggage can be pre-booked online (subject to a maximum of up to 2 pieces only) or will be charged at the airport if they arrive with additional piece(s), click here for the rates.   7. Sports Equipment Handling fees: There will be no Sports Equipment ‘handling fee’ for Stretch and Stretch+ customers/passengers to carry their ‘Sports Equipment’. However, it is clarified that, the total allowed weight of Baggage i.e., weight including the ‘Sports Equipment’ and the ‘Check-in Baggage’ needs to be within the permissible limit of Check-in Baggage Allowance mentioned above. In case, the total Baggage is more than the Check-in Baggage allowance, Additional Baggage charges will apply.

    For clarity, Sports equipment only includes, the following:

a) skiing equipment, b) golf bags, c) cricket kit, d) bicycles, e) surf boards, f) snow boards, g) water skis and h) scuba diving equipment.

  1. Other Add-ons: Additionally, Stretch and Stretch+ passengers can pre-book any other ‘Add-on Services’, which is not already included, click here to know more.
  2. Check-in Baggage Allowance:
    1. Stretch: IndiGo allows a total of thirty (30) kgs free Checked-in baggage (2 pieces only**), per passenger per sector basis. In case, such two (2) pieces weighs above 30 kgs per person/Customer, IndiGo will levy excess Baggage charges as set out under here.
    2. Stretch+: IndiGo allows a total of forty (40) kgs free Checked-in baggage (2 pieces only**), per passenger per sector basis. In case, such two (2) pieces weighs above 40kgs per person/Customer, IndiGo will levy excess Baggage charges as set out under here.

      **As per regulatory requirement, carrying more than thirty-two (32)kgs in one (1) checked-in luggage/baggage is not allowed, even with excess baggage charges.

  1. Hand Baggage: IndiGo allows free twelve (12) kgs Hand Baggage, for its Stretch and Stretch+ Customers. Any additional Baggage, will be chargeable as per the applicable rates, click here for the applicable rates.
  2. Infant: IndiGo provides Infant seat (fare mentioned above in Features), for Stretch and Stretch+ Customers, along with seven (7) kgs, free Hand Baggage allowance.
  3. Change and Cancellation: Date change and cancellation are allowed until three (3) hours prior to scheduled flight departure time. Changes will be subject to available inventory and applicable difference in fare along with applicable Change/Cancellation fee.
  4. Check – in Conditions:
    1. Airport Check-in at counter will be closed seventy-five (75) minutes prior to the flight departure time.
    2. Boarding will be closed twenty-five (25) minutes, prior to the flight departure time.
  5. Fare Combination on Connecting Flights: As of now Stretch and Stretch+ are available only on non-stop flights.
  6. Upgrade/ Downgrade Process: Process from Upgrade / Downgrade to and from Stretch or Stretch+ cabin will be as follows:
    1. Voluntary Upgrade: If Customer chooses to upgrade to Stretch or Stretch+ cabin, they’ll have to cancel their entire booking and create a new booking, by paying the applicable Cancellation fee and fare difference.

      However, if this request is made within eighteen (18) hours prior to departure, IndiGo will be unable to provide a complimentary meal box (veg), and instead will provide a complimentary snack (basis availability on board).
    2. Involuntary Upgrade: Due to operational reasons IndiGo may upgrade passenger(s) to Stretch or Stretch+ cabin without any charge. In such case, the features of the original booked fare/tariff type would prevail. If in the original booking the customer had purchased a meal, post upgradation, IndiGo will honor the purchased meal and additionally provide another free meal (as available).
    3. Involuntary Downgrade: Due to operational reasons IndiGo may have to downgrade any Customer to economy cabin. In such cases, the Baggage allowance of the original ticket would prevail and the Customer will be provided with a complimentary snack (basis availability on board), along with applicable compensation, as per the DGCA CAR Section 3, Series M Part IV.
  7. Conditions of Carriage: Except to the Terms and Conditions provided herein, all other terms and conditions, shall be subject to IndiGo’s Conditions of Carriage (“IndiGo CoC”) available here. Accordingly, these Terms and Conditions are an integral part of IndiGo’s CoC.
  8. Right to withdraw/modify: IndiGo reserves the right to withdraw or modify these Terms and Conditions, at any time, at its absolute discretion, without assigning any reason and prior intimation.
  9. Governing Law: This offer will be governed by and construed in accordance with laws of India, and all matters related to this offer are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at New Delhi.
