Visa Information

Customers travelling to Dubai are required to get their visas verified. After verification, the relevant office will insert an Ok to Board message in the PNR.
 
1.  For Visas sponsored and issued in the UAE

In cases where the visa has been sponsored and issued in the UAE, the visa sponsor should approach the offices / agencies listed below to update the visa message along with one copy of the visa. This includes visas obtained from travel agents / tour operators in India who in turn have obtained the visas from sponsors in the UAE. The staff concerned will verify the authenticity of the visa and insert “OK to Board” message on PNR. A service charge of AED 15 will be levied to the sponsor at the time of verification of visa. This charge may change without prior notice. Please note that the visa copy will be retained by the office / agency.

2.  For Visas issued in India 
 
In case the visa has been obtained from an agency / service provider in India, kindly provide PNR, Name, Date of Travel, Sector and other relevant details to your visa issuing agency and ask them to contact the airline for insertion of OK to Board message.
 
Note:

  • If you are not sure regarding the place/ mode of issuance of your visa, kindly contact your Travel Agent/ Tour Operator.
  • In case you require any clarifications, kindly contact the IndiGo Call Center at +91 9910 38 38 38.
  • All customers on visit visa (other than those on residence permits) should have a return ticket on any carrier, failing which they will not be accepted for check-in by IndiGo.
  • In case passenger turns up at the counter without OK to Board, acceptance of such passengers for travel will be at the sole discretion of the IndiGo staff on duty at the airport and passenger will be liable to pay any and all costs incurred by IndiGo if passenger is denied entry into UAE.

The sponsor is required to deposit the original visa at the Oman Aviation Visa Counter at Muscat Airport along with the arriving flight details and obtain a visa deposit receipt from them.

The sponsor is then required to approach IndiGo’s representative office in Muscat, M/s Muscat International Services, Building No. 164, Way No. 3305, Al Khuwair, Sultanate of Oman, Tel: 24400830, during normal working hours / workdays, with the original visa deposit receipt and one photocopy each of visa and visa deposit receipt. The staff concerned will verify the authenticity of the visa deposit receipt and insert “OK to Board” message in the PNR. One photocopy each of the visa and the visa deposit receipt will be retained by our representative office. A service charge of OMR 1 will be levied to the sponsor at the time of verification of visa. This charge may change without prior notice.”

  • Nationals of India.
  • Nationals of Bhutan and Nepal. However, if arriving from mainland China (People's Rep.) a visa is required (Note: does not incl. Hong Kong (SAR China) or Macao (SAR China)).
  • A max. stay of 90 days for nationals of Maldives.
  • Holders of diplomatic or official passports issued to nationals of Belarus, Denmark and Singapore.
  • A max. stay of 90 days:
    • for holders of diplomatic, official, service or special passports issued to nationals of Egypt,
    • for holders of diplomatic, official or service passports issued to nationals of Nicaragua,
    • or holders of diplomatic or official passports issued to nationals of Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Cyprus, El Salvador, Guyana, Honduras, Hungary, Israel, Korea (Rep.), Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Namibia, Paraguay, Peru, Russian Fed., Serbia, South Africa, Thailand, Venezuela and Viet Nam.
    • for holders of diplomatic passports issued to nationals of Armenia, Germany, Greece, Japan, Lithuania, Macedonia (FYROM), Malta, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine.
    • for holders of diplomatic passports issued to nationals of France. (See NOTE 53754)
      • NOTE 53754: The max. stay is granted within 6 months.
  • A max. stay of 60 days for holders of diplomatic or official passports issued to nationals of Cambodia.
  • A max. stay of 30 days:
    • for holders of diplomatic or official passports issued to nationals of Croatia, Ecuador, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Lao People's Dem. Rep., Philippines, Tajikistan and Uruguay.
    • for holders of diplomatic passports issued to nationals of Bangladesh and Turkmenistan.
  • Holders of a Re-entry Permit issued by India
  • Holders of Person of Indian Origin (PIO) Card.
  • A max. stay of 60 days for holders of diplomatic passports issued to nationals of Syria.

 

TWOV (Transit Without Visa):

  • Holders of confirmed onward tickets for a max. transit time of 24 hours. For details, click here.
  • Not applicable to stateless persons and refugees.
  • Hotel facilities are available in Terminal 3 at Delhi (DEL), provided holding boarding card for connecting flight.

 

Merchant Seamen:

  • Visa is not required for nationals of India, Bhutan, Maldives and Nepal.
  • Merchant Seamen arriving by air in order to board a ship, or if arriving by ship in order to board an aircraft must travel on duty and hold a Seaman Book together with a passport and a Letter of Employment or Letter of Guarantee of the shipping company.

 

Crew Members:

  • Operating Crew: visa not required provided cleared on Temporary Landing Permit and departing within 72 hours. Longer stays are permitted but the airline has to state the reason and obtain permission to depart from the AFRRO at the time of departure.
  • Positioning Crew: same regulations as for passengers apply.

 

Military:

  • Same regulations as for passengers apply.

 

Visa Issuance:

  • Nationals of Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Djibouti, Fiji, Finland, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kiribati, Korea (Rep.), Lao People's Dem. Rep., Luxembourg, Marshall Isl., Mauritius, Mexico, Micronesia (Federated States), Myanmar, Nauru, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Russian Fed., Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Isl., Thailand, Tonga, Tuvalu, USA, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Vanuatu and Viet Nam holding a printed copy of an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) can obtain a visa on arrival for a max. stay of 30 days, when:
    • holding a normal passport valid for at least 6 months on arrival, containing at least two unused visa pages, and holding a return/onward ticket, and
    • arriving at Bengaluru (BLR), Chennai (MAA), Delhi (DEL), Goa (GOI), Hyderabad (HYD), Kochi (COK), Kolkata (CCU), Mumbai (BOM) or Thiruvananthapuram (TRV).

    –   The ETA can be obtained online 4 to 30 days before travel at Indian Visa Online.
    –   Visa on arrival allows only a single entry and is issued max. 2 times in a calendar year. 
    –   Visa on arrival is not available to persons of Pakistani origin. ETA Fee (paid online): USD 60.

  • Holders of normal passports issued by the Palestinian Territory, holding a printed copy of an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), can obtain a visa on arrival for a max. stay of 30 days, when:
    • holding a normal passport valid for at least 6 months on arrival, containing at least two unused visa pages, and holding a return/onward ticket, and
    • arriving at Bengaluru (BLR), Chennai (MAA), Delhi (DEL), Goa (GOI), Hyderabad (HYD), Kochi (COK), Kolkata (CCU), Mumbai (BOM) or Thiruvananthapuram (TRV).

    –   The ETA can be obtained online 4 to 30 days before travel at Indian Visa Online.
    –   Visa on arrival allows only a single entry and is issued max. 2 times in a calendar year.

Additional Information:

  • Person of Indian Origin (PIO) Cards have indefinite validity, regardless of the expiry date specified on the card, provided the PIO card holder has a valid passport.
  • Holders of an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) registration certificate (booklet) are advised to carry the OCI, even though they are issued with a "U" type visa. If the passport is renewed, the OCI "U" type visa issued in the old passport remains valid, even if the holder acquires a new nationality (excluding Bangladesh or Pakistan). It is then required to hold both passports.
    In cases where holders of an OCI not holding the old passport, containing the "U" visa, or holders of a passport containing a "U" visa but not holding an OCI, can be accepted for travel, as Indian Immigration will verify status on the OCI database. A "U" visa cancels any other type of visa issued by India.
  • Indian visa stickers have no seal/signature from the issuing authority. (See NOTE 57490)
    • NOTE 57490: Not applicable to PIO card holders.
  • Nationals of Maldives must have at least 60 days between visits. The max. stay is granted within 6 months.
  • Nationals of Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and Sudan holding multiple entry Tourist Visas (type T), with a validity ranging from above 3 months and up to 10 years, are required to have at least 60 days between visits. (See NOTE 54918)
    • NOTE 54918: Those wishing to re-enter before the 60 days have expired must contact an Indian mission abroad to obtain permission. Travelers intending to make side-trips to neighbouring countries as part of the same journey, should submit details of their complete itinerary, with supporting documentation, such as reservations, to an Indian mission or to the immigration officer upon initial entry into India, to obtain permission for multiple entries as part of that journey. Visitors are required to register with the Foreigner's Regional Registration Office within 14 days of re-entry.
  • Nationals of China (People's Rep.)(excluding holders of Hong Kong (SAR China) and Macao (SAR China) passports) holding multiple entry Tourist Visas (type T), with a validity ranging from above 3 months and up to 10 years, are required to have at least 60 days between visits. (See NOTE 54918)

  • Visa exemption does not apply to nationals of Cyprus, Hungary, Israel, Lao People's Dem. Rep., Russian Fed. and Tajikistan holding diplomatic or official passport, if employed by an international organization

  • Merchant Seamen arriving by air in order to board a ship, must travel on duty and hold a sign-on approval letter issued by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). The shipping company must arrange the entry procedure by submitting crew sign-on application via ICA's CREW System for approval not more than 7 days prior to the seamen's arrival in Singapore.
    Merchant Seamen arriving by ship in order to board an aircraft must obtain a Landing/ Special Pass in order to leave Singapore. The shipping company must arrange the procedure by submitting a sign-off application via ICA`s CREW System or manually by submitting:
    • Letter of Guarantee,
    • confirmed air-ticket,
    • passport/seaman book.

  • The government of Singapore only recognizes Chinese Taipei (on the cover: Republic of China Taiwan) passports containing a personal ID-number. Passports without a personal ID-number must be accompanied by an Entry Permit to enter Chinese Taipei.
  • British passports endorsed British Citizen that have been extended 12 months by an extension stamp contained within the passport are accepted.

  • ACMECS Single Visa issued by Cambodia and Thailand are valid for 90 days from the date of issue and are valid for a stay of 60 days in Thailand. Holders of visas isssued by Cambodia (marked KHA) will be required to pay their fee for Thailand upon arrival in Thailand.
  • Visitors who are visa exempt are required to hold documents for their next destination.

  • Extension of stay possible for additional 30 days, for holders of British or Hong Kong (SAR China) passports, provided extension request is submitted at least 2 days prior to the expiry date of the visa issued on arrival. Fee: AED 600.
  • Valid visas in expired passports are accepted provided accompanied by new passport.
  • Extension of stay possible for additional 30 days, for nationals of Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Rep., Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland (Rep.), Italy, Japan, Korea (Rep.), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, USA or Vatican City (Holy See), provided extension request is submitted at least 2 days prior to the expiry date of the visa issued on arrival. Fee: AED 600
  • Residents holding an Investor or Partner Visa issued by Abu Dhabi are permitted to stay out of the United Arab Emirates for a period of max. 1 year.
  • Resident Visas are cancelled if the holder remains outside the United Arab Emirates for a period of more than 6 months.
  • Exempt are university students holding a valid university ID card or letter issued by a university, stating that they are current students.

 

Minors:

  • Separate visa not required for minors registered in their parent/guardian passport, provided their name is endorsed in the visa of the parent/guardian.

Passport Requirement: Passport required

Following are the Passport Exemptions:

  • Holders of a National ID Card issued to nationals of United Arab Emirates.
  • Holders of a National ID Card issued to nationals of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
  • Holders of a National ID Card issued to nationals of Kuwait, provided card contains a photo of the holder.
  • Holders of emergency passports issued to nationals of Austria and France.
  • Holders of German temporary passports ("Vorlaeufiger Reisepass").
  • Holders of a German ID Card ("Kinderausweis") issued to minors up to/incl. 15 years of age. Photo is not required for children under 10 years of age.
  • Holders of a Laissez-Passer issued by the United Nations.
  • Holders of temporary passports issued to nationals of Switzerland.

 

Document Validity:

  • Passports and/or passport replacing documents –
    • of visitors must be valid for:
      • at least 3 months from the date of entry, for visits of up to 3 months, or
      • at least 6 months from the date of entry, for visits exceeding 3 months.
    • issued to nationals of the United Arab Emirates must be valid on arrival.
    • issued to residents of the United Arab Emirates must be valid on arrival.
  • Emergency passports issued to nationals of Austria must be valid for at least 1 year from date of arrival.
  • British passports endorsed British Citizen that have been extended 12 months by an extension stamp contained within the passport are accepted.

 

Admission and Transit Restrictions:

  • Admission refused to nationals of Israel.
  • Admission refused to stateless persons and refugees, even if holding a valid visa for the UAE. (See NOTE 13971).
    • NOTE 13971: Exempt are wives of UAE nationals, provided holding a visa.
  • Admission refused to Palestinians holding documents issued by Iraq or Egypt.
  • Admission refused to holders of non-machine readable passports issued to nationals of Pakistan.
    • Exempt are holders of hand-written passports issued to nationals of Pakistan residing in the United Arab Emirates.
    • Exempt are holders of hand-written passports issued to nationals of Pakistan with a visa issued prior to 23 August, 2010.
  • Admission and transit refused to holders of Iraqi "S" series passports.

 

Crew Members:

  • Nationals of the United Arab Emirates arriving on Emirates Airlines, may enter if holding a Crew Identity Card and a General Declaration Form.

 

Military:

  • Passport not required for holders of US Military Identity Cards and travel orders.

 

Additional Information:

  • Passports issued by Kuwait containing an article 17 stamp are not accepted. (See NOTE 13971)
    • NOTE 13971: Exempt are wives of UAE nationals, provided holding a visa.

 

Minors:

  • Passport not required for minors registered in their parent/guardian passport, provided it contains photos of the minors and traveling with the passport holder.
