Visa and immigration
Since Réunion is a French overseas department, its visa rule is different from those of mainland France. However, you need a French visa to enter Réunion. For most short tourist visits, travellers must obtain a (tourist) short-stay visa or an approved travel authorisation issued in advance, depending on the length and nature of their stay. The passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the travel date and have at least two blank pages. Travellers may also be asked to present proof of onward or return travel and evidence of sufficient funds to cover their stay in Réunion.
Or, you can also apply for a visa waiver. You can waive your visa in three ways:
- Contact your local travel agent and buy a travel package (flight and hotel). The agency will contact the incoming agency on Réunion Island with a licence for a visa waiver.
- Or, you can directly apply for a travel package from the agency on Réunion Island.
- Or, book flights directly with IndiGo and contact the local agency with a licence to organise hotel and sightseeing activities in Réunion.
Note: A Schengen visa is not valid for Réunion.
