- The Rockfort Temple: This Dravidian temple is Tiruchirappalli’s top tourist attractions. It is an ancient fort that played a significant role in the Carnatic wars and helped establish colonial rule in India. The famous Ucchi Pillayar Temple, which is cut from the rock itself, gives a fantastic view of the river Kaveri and the city.
- Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple: Hosting Asia’s tallest temple towers on its premises, the temple was awarded the UNESCO Award for Heritage Conservation. The temple feels like a city enclosed in itself and has splendid architecture. There is also a small art museum nearby that displays fine bronzes, tusks of bygone temple elephants and 17th century ivory figures.
- Kallanai Dam: This dam is built by King Karikalan of the Chola kingdom and is the fourth-oldest water-regulator structure in the world that is still operational.
- Jambukeswarar Temple: Also known as the Jambukeshwar Temple, this holy place is stunningly filled with colourful marvels which are built over a mysterious never drying stream
Apart from these, some other temples are Erumbeeswarar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the Vayalur Murugan Temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, famous in Tiruchirappalli.
