The airport has one terminal that serves both passenger and cargo flights. The airport is getting fast upgrades and makeovers enabling it to handle over 2 million passengers every year. A new runway of over 3 kilometres long and 45 metres wide has been added to the airport's upgrade list. Additionally, the widening of taxiways from 45 metres to 60 metres and fast-exiting taxiways are under construction for faster takeoffs.

Fujairah International Airport is located in Fujairah City, only 1.9 kilometres away south of Fujairah city centre. Upon arrival at the Fujairah International Airport, international travellers will undergo checking of all visa and immigration-related documents, including an occasional eye scan.

Like many visitors to the UAE, Indian passport holders need to have a UAE visa prior to travelling to Fujairah. With an Indian passport that remains valid for 6 months or more at the time of application, you will be eligible for a UAE visa. The UAE offers multiple visa validity periods like 30-day/ 60-day/ 90-day with options for single or multiple entries.

Indian nationals with additional documents like a visa or permanent resident card from the USA, UK or EU countries with a validity of at least six months are also eligible for a pre-approved UAE visa. This is a single-entry Visa on Arrival for Indian passport holders that grants a 14-day stay in the UAE.
