All about Belagavi
This city in Karnataka is one of the greenest and cleanest cities in India. Popularly known as Belgaum, this city mostly drives its economy through agriculture, fishing and things like that. What makes Belagavi famous?
- Sural or Surla falls - This massive falls is cozily snuggled amongst the dense forested Western ghats. Trekking to the waterfalls is a wonderful way to see the falls up close. During monsoons, the falls are at its best and the surrounding forests come to life along with the dancing water.
- Kapileshwar temple - This temple is popularly hailed as the “Kashi of the South’. The temple receives thousands of pilgrims each year who come to pay their respects. Some inscriptions in the complex suggest that this temple might be one of the oldest one in the state.
- Belgaum Fort - History buffs find this place interesting. This fort in Belgaum deserves to be mentioned first. This historical citadel was started building in the 13th century AD but underwent numerous constructions under many dynasties to look like it does today.
- Sri Mauli Devi temple - Dedicated to Maa Durga, this temple is well-maintained by the Authorities and is one of the most prominent Durga mandirs in the state. This pristine and well-managed mandir receives both local and tourist devotees every year.
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Garden - This garden was constructed recently by the Belgaum Urban development authority to pay their homage and tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji, the infamous maratha ruler. The garden is the home of many flora and well-kept trees and flowers.
