All About Dehradun
Dehradun is the capital of the state Uttarakhand. The city lies in the middle of the Doon Valley, bounded by the river Yamuna in the west and the river Ganga in the east. The city has a very long history. It started its existence when a son of Sikh Guru Har Rai set up a camp (dera) in the area. Eventually, the city was occupied by the Mughals, then the Gurkhas and finally the British. The city was used as a favourite retirement spot during the colonial era. The city of Dehradun, located in the Garhwal region at the foothills of the mighty Himalayan ranges, is known for its cool climate and scenic beauty.
