Gwalior is one of the major cities as well as the tourist destination in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Places to visit in Gwalior
- Gwalior Fort: Situated on the top of the hill, Gwalior Fort is a historical place that is known for its beautiful architecture. This fort was built in the 6th century and since then it has seen the rule of different kingdoms. It attracts a large number of tourists as it has palaces such as Man Mandir, Gujari, Jahangir, Karan, and Shah Jahan. It also has a Teli-Ka Mandir.
- Gujari Mahal: Built in the 15th century by Man Singh, Gujari Mahal is one of the best places for history buffs as it houses an archaeological museum that contains artefacts dating back to 2nd century B.C. The museum has several sculptures, statues, weapons, and terracotta items that tell a lot about the previous rulers of the region. It also has a large collection of Bagh cave paintings, which is one of the museum's main attractions.
- Tomb of Tansen: This tomb is dedicated to Tansen, a great musician and one of the nine gems of the Mughal court. It was believed that Tansen could create magic with his ragas, among which Deepak Raga and Megha Raga were the prominent ones. This tomb represents the Mughal style of architecture. The Tansen Music Festival is organised here annually in November.
- Gwalior Zoo: Gwalior Zoo is the best place for the wildlife lovers who can spot animals such as hyena, sambar, bison, golden pheasant, monkey, spotted deer, black buck, crocodile, and white tiger. It is also known as Gandhi Zoo and was established in 1922 by the royal family of Madhav Rao Scindia. It has been designated as a protected area due to the presence of several rare species of wild animals.
- Jiyaji Chowk Bazaar: One of the liveliest places in Gwalior, Jiyaji Chowk Bazaar is the perfect place to have the best shopping experience. This market is famous for selling a variety of local products that include handicrafts, handloom products, and jewellery.

Located 10 km from the city, Gwalior Airport (IATA - GWL) is also known as the Rajmata Vijay Raje Scindia Airport, which is a civil enclave within the premises of Maharajpur Air Force Station.
