What is Tuticorin best known for?
Thoothukudi aka Tuticorin is a city located on the southeast coast of Tamil Nadu. The city is known as “pearl city” due to the pearl fishing and construction of ships. The city is endowed with spectacular beaches, parks, temples and gardens in abundance, perfect for beach and nature lovers. The city is also famous for the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI). Apart from this, the city is known for the production of seashells and salt.

- Kalugumalai – It is a small calm town famous for its ancient cave temples and monolithic Jain beds dating back to the 8th Century AD. The town is surrounded by hills and offers a picturesque landscape.
