Bahrain is a relatively small Arab state nestled in a harbour on the Persian Gulf's southern coast. The archipelago is made up of approximately 30 additional islands. It gets its name from the Arabic word ‘al-bahrayn’, which means ‘two seas’.

Airport in Bahrain
Bahrain International Airport, also known as Manama Airport, is the country's main international airport. It is located on Muharraq Island, next to Manama, and serves as the national carrier Gulf Air's hub. The Bahrain Airport Company manages the airport. It is the Persian Gulf's oldest international airport, being opened in 1927. The airport recently underwent a $1.1 billion expansion, which began on 28th Jan., 2021, and will increase the airport's capacities to 14 million passengers per year.
