Dar es Salaam Airport (DAR)

Julius Nyerere International Airport has three passenger terminals for various types of air travel. Terminal 1 handles general aviation (scheduled and chartered) flights within Tanzania, while Terminal 2 handles domestic flights. Terminal 3 is the international terminal and offers self-service check-in to facilitate departures.

For international departures from Terminal 3, the airport advises passengers with checked baggage to arrive at the check-in counter 3 hours before departure, passengers without checked baggage to arrive 2 hours before departure, and passengers who have checked in online and already have their boarding pass to arrive 1 hour before departure.

Julius Nyerere International Airport offers a range of facilities and experiences for passengers with time to spare between flights or before departure. From shopping and dining to seamless internet and a lounge, travellers can meet their needs and enjoy the airport.

• A duty-free shop is available at the airport, offering products such as perfumes, cosmetics, confectionery, toys and other items for international travellers.
• Restaurants in the departure hall and concourse areas offer local and continental cuisine. In addition, passengers can enjoy fast food or a snack if they have little time before boarding.
• Passengers who have cleared immigration and security can access the Twiga Lounge in the Terminal 3 departures area. The lounge combines modern facilities with elements inspired by Tanzania's heritage and hospitality.
• Passengers can register for the airport's free Wi-Fi and access the internet while waiting for their flight.
• Banks, ATMs, bureaux de change and mobile money services are available at the airport, with these financial services listed as available 24 hours.
• Passengers with connecting flights can follow the airport's transfer procedures; those without an onward boarding pass can obtain one from the designated transfer desk before proceeding through security to the departure area.

Before entering Tanzania, travellers must meet the country's visa and immigration requirements. Tanzania provides an official online visa application system, while visa on arrival is available to eligible nationalities at official entry points. Passports must have at least six months' validity and at least one unused visa page, and visitors must show a return ticket on arrival.

Indian citizens require a visa to enter Tanzania. India is listed among the nationalities eligible for both online visa applications and visa on arrival. Tourists can apply for an ordinary visa through Tanzania's official e-Visa system before travelling. An ordinary visa is valid for up to 90 days.

Passengers should keep their passport, boarding pass and required visa or other entry documents readily accessible when proceeding through immigration.
