Ahmedabad has the highest population density in the Indian state of Gujarat. It serves as both the administrative hub for the Ahmedabad district and the headquarters of the Gujarat High Court. Ahmedabad is the fifth-most populated city in India with 8,253,000 people, according to the census of 2021. With an anticipated population of 6,357,693, the nearby urban agglomeration will rank eighth in terms of population in India. Ahmedabad is situated on the banks of the River Sabarmati, and is located 27 km from Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat, often known as its twin city.

- Sabarmati Ashram: Sabarmati Ashram is situated 6.4 km from the town hall in the Sabarmati neighbourhood of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, next to Ashram Road, and the Sabarmati River. Mahatma Gandhi lived in several different places, including Sabarmati and Sevagram. He spent a total of twelve years at Sabarmati or Wardha with his wife Kasturba Gandhi and supporters, including Vinoba Bhave. Here, the daily Ashram agenda included a recitation of the Bhagavad Gita. Gandhi led the Dandi March, popularly known as the Salt Satyagraha, from this location on 12 March, 1930.
- The Adalaj Stepwell: Adalaj Stepwell, also known as Rudabai Stepwell, is regarded as a remarkable example of Indian architecture. It is situated in the town of Adalaj, close to Gandhinagar city in the Gandhinagar district of the Indian state of Gujarat. In 1498, Rana Veer Singh's wife, Queen Rudadevi, got it built in his honour.
- Kankaria Lake: The second-largest lake in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is called the Kankaria Lake. It is situated in the Maninagar neighbourhood, in the city's southern region. While the Chaulukya era is often credited with its creation, its construction finished in 1451 during the rule of Sultan Qutb-ud-Din Ahmad Shah II. The area around the lake has been transformed into a lakefront with a variety of tourist attractions and public activities, including a zoo, toy train, kids’ city, tethered balloon ride, water rides, water park, food stalls, and entertainment facilities. In 2007–2008, the lakefront underwent renovation. The Kankaria Carnival is a seven-day celebration that takes place in the final week of December. During the Carnival, several cultural, artistic, and social events are planned.
- Jama Masjid: Ahmedabad mosque also known as Jama Masjid, Jumah Mosque, or Jami' Masjid was constructed in 1424 under the reign of King Ahmed Shah I. According to the inscription on the main mihrab, he opened the mosque on the first Safar of the year 827, or January 4, 1424. The mosque is located outside of the Bhadra Fort area of the old walled city. Jami' Masjid is located on Gandhi Road, and the mediaeval walled city is divided into many neighbourhoods or pols. The mosque is a short way past the Teen Darwaza or Tripolia Gate on the south side of the road. Jama Masjid was the fifth mosque to be erected during the reign of Ahmed Shah I.
- Bhadra Fort: Sultan Ahmed Shah, the man who laid the foundation for Ahmedabad, got the Bhadra Fort built in 1411. The fort is a well-liked tourist destination and has numerous stories to tell. The fort's name comes from a temple there called Bhadra Kali Temple. Legend has it that Goddess Lakshmi once entered this Fort to grant the Muslim Sultan her benediction that the city would always be prosperous. The magnificent Fort features numerous palaces, a large courtyard, and lovely green gardens.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Gujarat, India, provides service to the twin cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Hansol, where the airport is located, is 9 km north of the city's centre. It is named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a Gujarati native, and India's first Deputy Prime Minister. In the Indian state of Gujarat, it is also the biggest and busiest airport.
It was India's ninth busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic in the fiscal year 2021–2022, handling approximately 5.67 million people. In 2015, the government started the process to privatise the airport. The new Dholera International Airport is being constructed as a result of current limits on airport development.
