Kanpur – the leather city of the world
Kanpur, situated in northern India, is an excellent destination for visiting intricate Hindu temples and shopping at the local markets. Known as Cawnpore during colonial times, the city is now a major industrial centre. The city was also a key British fortress, prior to independence. It is located on the banks of the river Ganga and is historically, religiously, as well as commercially significant for the country as a whole. Kanpur has been home to the leather industry since the British army made Kanpur their headquarters in the early nineteenth century. The enormous number of troops stationed in the area produced a natural need for leather goods such as boots, saddlery, and harness. Passengers can buy low-cost tickets with IndiGo and travel to this magnificent location that will add to their travel experiences.
