About Belagavi
Belagavi, which is also known as Belgaum, is situated in Karnataka. The Karnataka government has made the city the second capital of the state after Bengaluru. Thus, it houses another state administrative building, which is called Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, which came into function in 2012. Belagavi is one of the 100 cities under the Smart Cities Mission. Plans are being made to turn it into a smart city in the First Phase.

Lush fauna surrounds the lake and one can enjoy speed boating, toy train rides as well as pedal boating here. It is a great picnic spot. Another spot that should not be missed especially with kids is Asha Kiran Planetarium. It is one of the lesser known attractions in the city, but worth a visit.

Belagavi Airport or Sambra Airport is the oldest in the state. The airport is located in Sambra, which is about 10 km away from Belagavi. This is why, it is also popularly known as Sambra Airport.
