What is Jammu best known for?
Jammu is the capital of the Indian union territory, Jammu, is the largest city in the district. Moreover, it is lying on the banks of river Tawi. - Mubarak Mandi Palace: It's located in the heart of the old walled city of Jammu and well known for its archaeological importance. This was used to be the grand abode for the Maharajas of the Dogra Dynasty, but nowadays it’s one of the main tourist attractions in Jammu.
- Peer Kho cave: It’s situated along the banks of river Tawi, every year thousands of devotees of Shivalik visit there during Shivaratri and other Hindu festivals.

- Amar Mahal: It was built in 1890; the design of the fort was sculpted by the French architect. The entire family of King Amar lived in this palace.
- Dogra Art Museum: The museum has 800 rare artefacts such as arrows and bow, the gold Pentaggi of the Mughal period. Many handwritten inscriptions are also kept here.
- Raghunath Bazaar: It is the busiest market in Jammu. Here nuts, handicrafts and burfi can be purchased.
- Akhnoor Fort: This historic fort is 32 km from Jammu built in the 19th century situated on the banks of river Chenab. The fort manifests the glimpses of Harappan culture.
