Tuticorin
Tuticorin was formerly known as Thoothukudi aka Pearl City and Sea Gateway of Tamil Nadu, which is located in Coromandel Coast of Bay of Bengal, Tamil Nadu. The Portuguese and Dutch culture of the city dates back to the 15th century. It is known as ‘Pearl City’ due to the pearl fishing. It is one of the major ports in India, facilitated to handle a large volume of coal traffic and trade with Sri Lanka. It is famous for its beautiful temples, churches, pearl fishing, salt production, colourful festivals and shipping activities.
