About Agra
Agra is an ancient Indian city located on the banks of the River Yamuna. It was once the capital of the Mughal Empire and gained prominence from that era. Agra is renowned for featuring some of the most classic examples of contemporary Mughal architecture. It is home to the famous Taj Mahal, which is one of the seven wonders of the world. Agra also houses some popular archaeological sites, forts, and temples. The city is famous for its marble and leather industries.
The city features hot summers and chilly winters. The monsoon season is extremely humid but the rainfall is not as heavy as in some other parts of the country. The best time to visit Agra is during January and February.

- Taj Mahal: You cannot talk about Agra without talking about the Taj Mahal. You have seen it in history books, magazines, and newspapers. Now, it’s time for you to view it in all its glory. The magnificent structure reflects contemporary architecture, dating back to the Mughal era. The monument was constructed on the orders of the then emperor, Shah Jahan for his wife. To this very day, the monument is recognised as a symbol of love.
- Agra Fort: Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Agra Fort is a historical monument constructed entirely out of red sandstone. It is home to several historical buildings including the Jahangir Mahal, Khas Mahal, and Diwan-i-Khas.
- Fatehpur Sikri: A small town in Agra, this place once served as the capital of the Mughal Empire. The town was constructed during the rule of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. It was later abandoned in the year 1610. Like most of the classic Mughal structures, this place is also constructed entirely out of red sandstone.
- Moti Masjid: Famously known as the Pearl Mosque, Moti Masjid was also constructed by Shah Jahan. Located on the banks of the River Yamuna, this is one of the best places to visit for people who admire heritage and classic Mughal architecture. It is one of the lesser-known places in Agra which does not take away anything from its magnificence.
