Places to visit in Delhi
- Qutub Minar: It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the tallest minaret in India. The entire complex is beautifully designed with intricate details. Qutub Minar has a five-storied minaret with inscriptions. The ground floor is said to have been commissioned by QutubUddin Aybak and the rest of Iltumish.
- India Gate: Like the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, Delhi's India Gate is a beautiful structure built in memory of Indian soldiers who died in World War I. A flame called Amar Jawan Jyoti can be seen between the huge arches. The walls surrounding the massive structure are engraved with the names of all the soldiers who died in the war.
- Humayun's Tomb: It is an iconic garden-style mausoleum with beautiful Mughal style of architecture. It was commissioned by Bega Begum for her late husband Humayun and the second Mughal emperor. While you visit to this place you will notice the similar appearance like that of Taj Mahal in Agra.
- Rashtrapati Bhavan: This is an iconic building is located in central Delhi. It is a place where the current president resides. This beautiful building is quite large and its massive structure can be seen from a distance. One of the best ways to see it is by walking from India Gate along the King’s Way road to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- National Museum: If you like museums, you should visit the National Museum which is considered to be one of the largest in India. There are several galleries, some showing contemporary art and others historical artworks from all major eras. Some of the highlights include archaeological finds, terracotta toys, tribal masks, sculptures, pottery, jewellery, bronze and copper tools, musical instruments, tapestries, wall paintings and swords.
