What is Chandigarh best known for?
Chandigarh is the capital city of two states in India – Punjab and Haryana. BBC recognised Chandigarh as one of the few master-planned cities in the world to have succeeded in combining monumental architecture, cultural growth and modernisation.
It is the cleanest Indian city based on a government survey and the happiest city in India as per a survey conducted by LG Electronics. It is also one of the wealthiest cities in India. From beautifully landscaped gardens, man-made lakes and architecture by Le Corbusier to fun festivals and lip-smacking food, Chandigarh is a major tourist hub in India.
