The shoreline, stretching for more than 13 km, is the second-longest in the world after Miami Beach, Florida, and the longest in Asia. It reaches Fort St George from Besant Nagar in the south. The finest times to visit the seaside are at dawn and dusk when a refreshing sea wind blows.
- Sri Bhaktha Anjaneyaswami Temple : The Kapaleeshwarar Temple in Mylapore was constructed in the seventh century. The spectacular Dravidian architecture of the temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, draws a significant number of worshippers every year. The temple's most distinctive features are its pillared mandapa and gopuram.
- Shirdi Sai Baba Temple : The Shirdi Sai Baba Temple, a significant place of worship, is devoted to Sai Baba and draws thousands of followers annually. Remember to offer your prayers and seek blessings in this serene location. Offering ‘prasadam’ to every guest, and that too virtually every minute, is one of the temple's most notable features.
- The Thousand Lights Mosque : The Thousand Lights Mosque in Anna Salai is a well-known centre of prayer in Chennai. The mosque's mediaeval Indo-Saracenic architecture dates to 1820.
