Places to visit in Bhubaneswar
- Khandagiri and Udayagiri : The names of the two caves are derived from where they are situated on the respective hills. The two caverns are situated across a road from one another and are face to face. They are thought to have been dug out during the time of King Kharavela as lodging for Jain monks. Khandagiri has 15 caves, whereas Udaygiri, known as the dawn hill, has 18. Many of these caves portray deities and statues of gods, demonstrating religious and historical significance of the period.
- Lingaraj temple : Lingaraj Temple is a glorious temple located in the city of Bhubaneswar and is one of the most important attractions and landmarks. This eleventh-century temple is an architectural marvel in the city of Bhubaneswar. Being a major tourist destination, this ancient temple is an important pilgrimage in this part of the country. The whole architecture, stone carvings and interiors are extremely riveting. Temple surroundings are extremely clean, well-maintained and serene. A visit to Bhubaneswar is incomplete without a visit to this enchanting temple.
- Parashurameshvara temple :This temple is one of those tourist attractions in Bhubaneswar where you can see the wonder of traditional religious architecture combined with ancient design elements to create a building that arouses curiosity and fascination in equal measure. The temple's architecture contains traces of Kalingan and Nagara styles. The temple is named after Parasuram, a follower of Lord Shiva. The idol of Lord Lingaraj is brought to the temple for a feast during the Ashadha, or June–July, celebrations of Parasuramatami.
- Rajarani temple : Despite the fact that historians cannot agree on a certain period of time when this temple was established, it is thought to have been erected between 11th and 12th centuries. Surprisingly, this temple was not built with a god or idol at its centre. If one looks closely, they may see scenes of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati's wedding as well as several others, such as grasping a tree branch, cuddling a kid, playing an instrument, removing an anklet, and more.
- Odisha State Museum : Professor NC Banerjee and Professor Ghanshyam Dash, two renowned historians from Ravenshaw College, are the minds behind the Odisha State Museum. To visit the entire museum and see all of the exhibits, you will need at least two hours. The museum is divided into 9 distinct parts, each of which has a variety of items that are arranged according to category.
Bhubaneswar Airport
The international airport Biju Patnaik International Airport (BBI) serves Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, India. It is around 4 km (2.5 miles) southwest of Bhubaneswar Railway Station and 6 km (3.7 miles) from the city centre. There are two terminals at the airport, each with a restaurant, a store, and other amenities. Outside the airport, you may readily find taxis, buses, and shuttle services.
