The second-largest city in the state of Karnataka, Hubli forms a downtown suburb of Dharwad making it the largest city centre near Bangalore. Hubli is the capital of Northern Karnataka and is one of the fastest-growing cities. The city is also known as 'Chotta Mumbai' for its strong commercial presence. Hubli is also called Hubbali, meaning 'flower blossom' in Kannada. Hubli is often connected to Dharwad about 20 km from Hubli and together they are known as Hubli-Dharwad.
