About Ahmedabad
Amdavad, also known as Ahmedabad, is a UNESCO World Heritage City in India. Places to visit in Ahmedabad
- Jhulta Minar: These three-storey minarets, also known as ‘Shaking Minarets’, have perplexed architects and engineers for ages. Despite the connecting tunnel being motionless and vibration-free, if one of these towers rattles, the second will vibrate as well. Each of the three-storey towers has balconies with intricate carvings.
- Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram: If you're planning a trip to India, then you should definitely check out Gandhi Ashram in Sabarmati. It was the hub of Mahatma Gandhi's campaign for India's freedom from the British Raj. And, you can see some of his photos and letters in the museum.
- Kankaria Lake: Ahmedabad's oldest city, located on the eastern bank of the River Sabarmati, is home to an artificial lake, Kankaria, which covers a massive area and has 34 sides. The lake is surrounded by steps of carved stone, and visitors can access the water from six different points on the lake's slopes.
- Adalaj Stepwell: The five-storey Adalaj Stepwell (Adalaj Vav) is one of the finest examples of water temples in Gujarat. It is located about 19 km north of Ahmedabad. Built in 1499 by Queen Rudadevi in honour of her late husband Veer Singh, head of the Vaghela dynasty, this stepwell is considered to be one of the symbols of Ahmedabad.
