What is Hyderabad famous for?
Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, a magnificent city under the Nizams reign, is a must-visit. It was founded in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shahi, the ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. - Charminar: The epic signature structure of the city, Char Minar has great popularity throughout the country. Located in the centre of the old city of Hyderabad, surrounded by the Mecca Masjid, built of bricks from Mecca and Laad Bazaar, it is full of history.
- Golconda Fort: Golconda, one of the oldest and most famous forts in India, built around 1143 AD in the Kakatiya dynasty. Built atop a granite hill by the Kakatiya rulers, it is about 400 feet in structure and a major attraction for travellers, historians, and the common man.
- Ramoji Film City: The film city is spread over 2 thousand acres. It is an ideal place for a picnic, themed party, corporate event, grand wedding, adventure camp, conference and honeymoon.
- Hussain Sagar Lake: One of India's largest man-made lakes, Hussain Sagar Lake, has been a landmark of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad since 1562. To make it a major attraction a 18 m high monolithic structure of Gautama Buddha was built in the middle of the lake.
- Birla Mandir: Located in the southern end of Hussain Sagar Lake, Birla Mandir is an attractive modern temple built over Kala Pahad, the twin of Naubat Pahad. It took 10 years to complete the temple. The temple depicts Dravidian, Rajasthani and Utkal architecture on a 280 ft high hill.
- Jaliyah Waterpark: Located on Necklace Road, Jaliyah Waterpark is a large water park and amusement park in central Hyderabad.
- Chowmahalla: It was once the official residence of Hyderabad Nizams. It is one of the finest architectural monuments in the city. It became public in 2005.
- Lumbini Park: Located in the heart of the city of Pearl, Lumbini Park is a modern style park. People come here to rest after a day full of activities. Although the park was built in 1994, it is popular among all age groups.
- Qutub Shahi Cemetery: It is a collection of beautiful Qutub Shahi cemeteries located behind the beautiful Ibrahim Bagh site. This represents the last resting place of the founding emperors of the established Hyderabad. The tombs are dedicated to the seven Qutb Shahi kings who ruled Golconda for more than 170 yr.
