About Kathmandu
Kathmandu, dubbed as the City of Peace, rests at an altitude of 1400 m or 4600 ft, which assures a cold and pleasant climate, all year long. The charming, bustling yet quiet city is the most accessible place of Nepal, and perhaps the metropolitan hub. From Thamel’s markets for mountaineers to rickshaw rides through busy roads and alleys of the old part of the city, Kathmandu shares and embodies a different kind of warmth. The city is derived from the local word for 'wood shelter'. Kathmandu boasts scenic beauty, tranquil atmosphere and peaceful temples and monasteries.
