About Kathmandu
Located in the foothills of magnificent Himalayas, Kathmandu is sandwiched between India and China. Kathmandu gives the glimpses of Buddhism and Hindu mythology. The city has several historical monuments and ancient shrines that speak of rich culture, besides being the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, the largest city and also known as a commercial centre. Nepal has four estates in the World Heritage List, out of which Kathmandu Valley and Lumbini the birthplace of Lord Buddha are the cultural estates and Chitwan National Park and Sagarmatha National Park are two natural estates. Some of the city's finest places are Kumari Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudha Stupa, Kirtipur, Budhanilkantha Temple, Dakshinkali Temple, Nagarkot, Taleju Bhawani Deju, Dhulikhel, Changunarayan Temple, etc. Pashupatinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is built on the banks of the Bagmati River. There is quite a beautiful atmosphere around this temple, and a festival is organised in this temple on the day of Shivaratri.

Kathmandu is a shoppers’ delight with Buddha heads, colourful masks, Tibetan beads and chains, bright funky T-shirts and traditional souvenirs to take home. Kathmandu has a vibrant and active nightlife. Thamel, with its bars, restaurants, karaoke joints and live music venues, is party central.

Currently known as Tribhuvan International Airport situated in Kathmandu, Bagmati Pradesh, Nepal. It happens to be named after the former king of Nepal Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah. Its operations are carried on a tabletop runway with one international and one domestic terminal.
