About Bahrain
Bahrain is a collection of 30 plus islands in the Persian Gulf. Its capital is Manama and the country is located on the east of Saudi Arabia. Bahrain is a small island nation, spread across 800 sq. km. Football is a popular sport in Bahrain but the locals also enjoy playing basketball and cricket.
Bahrain enjoys tropical, desert-like weather throughout the year. The summers are extremely warm but the winters are cool and enjoyable. Bahrain receives very little rainfall. December and January are generally the best months to visit this beautiful nation.

If you are looking to dive into the typical middle-eastern traditions, you can visit the local souqs. Here, you can find a variety of spices and jewellery in these markets.
- Riffa: Located in the heart of Bahrain, Riffa used to be the biggest city in Bahrain. It recently got usurped by the younger city of Manama. You can visit the great Riffa Fort which has a lot of history attached to it. The city is also home to several Arabic bazaars to take care of your shopping needs.
- Zallaq: Hugging the western coastline of Bahrain, Zallaq is famous for its beaches and the variety of water sports that it offers. This zone is particularly famous for its white sand beach popularly known as Al Jazaer. Zallaq is the best place to go surfing or barbecue with your family and friends.
- Saar: Located quite close to the capital city of Manama, Saar offers tourists a much more peaceful and less hectic atmosphere. This part of the country is known for its luxurious summer homes and cafés. You can find several good coffee houses in this place.
Bahrain International Airport
Bahrain International Airport is the principal airport serving the island country. Established in 1927, it is one of the busiest airports in the Middle East, offering services to nearly 10 million passengers annually. The airport sees nearly 1,00,000 aircraft movements and a cargo change of around 3,00,000 tonnes. The Bahrain International Airport also provides its flyers with excellent parking and lounge services. The airport is located on Muharraq island and the IATA code for the same is BAH.
