If you are planning to visit this dreamy city, then there are a significant number of attractions to explore. The city’s majestic landmarks like the Powder Tower, Dancing House, Astronomical Clock, and Charles Bridge are some places that make Prague one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Places to visit in Prague
- Charles Bridge: Charles Bridge, probably the most romantic mediaeval bridge in the world, is a picture-perfect monument and a well-known representation of the city. The bridge, which has 30 Baroque sculptures of saints along its length, is named after King Charles IV. It connects Prague's Old Town with Mala Strana by crossing the River Vltava. The bridge's two protective Gothic towers play an important role in the city's skyline. Consider climbing the towers for a wide-angle view of the city!
- Prague Astronomical Clock: The mediaeval clock at the Old Town Hall has an astronomical dial and a zodiac ring representing the constellations. The Prague Astronomical Clock is the oldest working astronomical clock in the world. Notably, it was built about 600 years ago. The Prague Astronomical Clock attracts tourists every day from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the "Way of the Apostles". Mechanical statues of the 12 apostles move in the tower window as the clock strikes each hour.
- Powder Tower: Because it used to contain gunpowder, it was nicknamed the Dust Gate. It now functions as a museum, displaying relics related to alchemy, astronomy, and mediaeval art. Countless visitors enter the ancient city at the Dust Gate every day. This well-known Prague landmark also acts as a border. As you enter the Old Town, you'll find quaint winding streets where people casually stroll and admire the historic architecture. On the other side of the Dust Gate, you will find wide streets, large shopping centres, posh theatres, neighbourhood banks, and more.
- Municipal House: This impressive hall, one of the largest and most spectacular concert halls, is proudly housed in marvellous architecture and includes different unique features. A striking fresco can be seen on the arch above the balcony on the second floor of this communist monument in Prague, which is surrounded by a dome. Delicate stained glass windows and beautiful paintings decorate the interior of the building. One of the highlights of the house is the Mayor's Room with murals by Alphonse Mucha. The best way for visitors to learn about the place is through guided tours, also available in English.
