About Athens
Athens, Greece, has come to symbolise the entire country in the public's imagination because of its iconic Acropolis, and with good reason. The growth of democracy, science, philosophy, mathematics, drama, literature, art, and numerous other aspects of Western culture and civilisation, including the Olympic Games, were all related to the city during its height. The place is also known for its lush green surroundings and magnificent architecture. The town was formerly a modest Mycenaean Civilization village (c. 1700–1100 BCE).
Places to visit in Athens
- Panathenaic Stadium: Every trip to Athens is complete with a day excursion to the Olympic Stadium. The current stadium is an upgraded version of the previous stadium from 1896. During Herodes Atticus' rule in 335 BC, the first Panathenaic Stadium was built. This country hosted the first Olympic competition; thus, learning more about the historic event is essential.
- Panaghia Kapnikarea Church: It is one of Athens' most beautiful spots. The church on Ermous Street is a substantial building, one of the few 11th-century churches still standing. The walls and dome of the church are covered with numerous artworks from various eras. The church may be considered an art gallery because of the painting's uniqueness. If you are a fan of ancient architecture, then you must see this church. Before booking your Visakhapatnam to Athens flight ticket, you must include the place in your bucket list.
- Athens Riviera: Ancient buildings, temples, and a stadium are not the sole symbols of Athens tourism. To enjoy a picnic or some sunbathing, people should visit the beaches. You can swim in the sea because the ocean currents are frequently mild. This would only be a complete trip with at least one day at the beach.
- Temple of Olympian Zeus: The Temple of Olympian Zeus is as powerful as the God Himself and is one of Athens's top locations. Only 15 of the original 100 strong columns still stand, yet the glory is the same. The Roman baths and the remains of Themistokles' wall are two other popular destinations close to the temple.
- Benaki Museum: It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Athens. The museum displays artwork and other artefacts from ancient Greece. These priceless items originate from the Stone Age. They also have an assortment of contemporary works of art. The Greeks' social evolution and transition are seen.
Athens Airport
Greece's Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (ATH) is the country's biggest and most well-known airport. At Athens International Airport, there are terminals for Aegean Airlines, the country's leading airline, and several other smaller Greek airlines. A person must also obtain a Greece visa, a legal necessity for travelling to Athens.
